Meet the Board Candidates
Each spring we hold elections for new members and/or existing members of our board who would like to serve another term. Our goal is to have every member of the Board of Directors elected by the MSCS community.
Board elections begin April 15th- Learn more about the election process here. This year we have five candidates, all of whom are wonderful. You can vote for as many candidates as you like. Remember, we need at least 30% of the adults to participate in order for the election to be considered valid. Every vote counts. Thank you!
Lica Mazzetto, a Brazilian, initially came to the USA with her husband to attend UCLA. Their desire for nature and a sense of community led her family of four to Fort Collins. Having the time to watch her kids, who are almost six and almost three years old, grow and develop into individuals has been an incredible experience.
What do you value most about Waldorf education?
The Waldorf education respects the child as a unique individual who will develop as a whole person in their own time and way.

I like to be involved in my kids' education, and as part of the board, I have the opportunity to contribute to the school's strategic plan and provide support as needed.

Jon Pointer is a mechanical engineer, father of four, granddad to two, and longtime supporter of Waldorf education.
What do you value most about Waldorf education?
For me it has always been how Waldorf education weaves an experience of the full self into all learnings. From artistic expression, to movement, to tying in a social, emotional, and historical perspective into each subject, the immersion of the child into the material is without equal.
What drew you to board service?
As an original founding board member who previously served 9 years on the board, I am driven to help the school reach a truly solid and sustainable footing in Fort Collins by achieving a full two-track program.

I began my Waldorf service in 1998 when my then first grade daughter joined River Song Waldorf School’s grades program. After 8 years watching her and my son thrive in that school, and serving 6 years as their board president, I wished we could find a more sustainable way to bring Waldorf education to Fort Collins. Then came Liv Helmericks and MSCS! We couldn’t have been happier to be a part of the founding of the school as our two younger boys went from K through 8thgrade. Thank you MSCS! Oh, and I have many hobbies, but what I enjoy most is helping my family with any fixit projects. 😊
Paul Maloney grew up in Texas, went to school in upstate New York, traveled the world in the Marines, and settled in Colorado with his wife Taylor to start a family. They have a son, Graham, two dogs, Kona and Porter, and have fallen in love with Fort Collins and the Northern Colorado community.
What do you value most about Waldorf education?
The effort of maintaining the beauty and magic of childhood, while fostering the individual growth of each child so they can grow up to be good humans that can continue to make a better world that we are all a part of.
What drew you to board service?
The opportunity to serve a greater good, and be a part of my son's education.
What is something unique about yourself you'd like to share? (e.g. hobbies, history, how you like to renew and recharge, etc.)

What do you value most about Waldorf education?
I love that MSCS educates the whole child with special attention to fostering creativity, cultivating relationships, and ensuring that the curriculum is aligned with the current understanding of childhood development.
What drew you to board service?
MSCS has a direct impact on my family, our circle, and communities local and beyond. MSCS holds an important space in the education landscape of this region and I hope to serve this school as it continues to excel in areas of strength and encourage growth in areas of weakness.
What is something unique about yourself you'd like to share? (e.g. hobbies, history, how you like to renew and recharge, etc.)
I am the type of person who would rather try something new than stick to an old favorite (I don't have many favorites).
